After England defeated Wales 3-0, England coach Tuchel was interviewed and talked about the team's performance, tactical philosophy and the mental outlook of the players.
How do you evaluate the team's performance in this game?
We only have one and a half days to prepare for a tough opponent. It takes a huge amount of effort to be able to contain them the way we do. The team embraced these tactical concepts and worked hard for each other. So I'm very satisfied with the performance this time. We should have scored more goals in the first half. We could have scored in the second half but we didn't.
They made a lot of substitutions and so did we, which affected us a little bit in terms of rhythm, but overall it was a step in the right direction.
We have a day off now and we will enjoy this feeling. The players knew exactly what they had to do to play a game like this.
About the team’s positive outlook from the beginning of the game?
The team's spirit and mentality are very good, so they like to play this kind of football. It was a brave kick that required a huge amount of effort, but they were happy to do it.
We play like a club team, very flexible but always true to our tactical structure. Everyone accepts their role and is ready to do the unseen dirty work and help each other. I'm excited to take this new step.
