Former Liverpool star Fowler believes that the Red Army's signing strategy in the summer window is the main reason for the team's recent poor performance.
In the 11th round of the Premier League, Liverpool lost 0-3 to Manchester City. Although Liverpool invested 446 million pounds in the summer window to introduce new players, including signing Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Wirtz for 116 million pounds and Newcastle striker Isaac for 125 million pounds, the team's performance is far less than last season. Liverpool have lost 6 of their last 7 Premier League games.
Fowler admitted in an interview with Scholes and Nicky Butt that he believed Liverpool had dropped out of the Premier League title race after only 11 games.
Fowler said: "Someone asked me before the game, 'Have Liverpool got out of the woods?' , but Liverpool didn't perform well in the first 45 minutes, and then they won against Real Madrid. So, they only played OK for 45 minutes in the league. I think they are out of the championship game."
Scholes interjected, admitting that before Sunday's defeat to Manchester City, he still believed that Liverpool could win the Premier League title, but after witnessing the way the Reds lost, he now tends to agree with Fowler.
Fowler said: "From Liverpool's point of view, this is really a bad game, isn't it?"
Fowler believes that Liverpool signed too many players who do not fit Slott's system, so it is difficult for Slott to get the best out of his players.
Fowler said: "Frimpong is the best example. He was brought in to replace Alexander-Arnold, but he is a wing-back. There is also Kyle Kez, who was everyone's favorite left-back last year. Playing for Liverpool or Manchester United is different from playing for Bournemouth or Brentford because the pressure is greater."
Butt talked about the Premier League. "It feels so bad that Manchester City could win the championship. This victory is like a statement: we are back."
Scholes added: "I know Arsenal are 4 points ahead, but given the experience that Manchester City has and Arsenal lacks, you have to look at them (as championship favorites) a little bit more."
