In order to commemorate former Liverpool chairman and boss David Mors, who died in July 2022, Kirby Academy officially unveiled a commemorative plaque. Morse passed away at the age of 76 and served in the club for 16 years and made great contributions to the team.
This enthusiastic Red Army supporter was chairman in September 1991 and during his tenure he witnessed the team win 10 important honors. These achievements include the 2000-01 Triple Champions League title and the 2005 Champions League title, led by his appointed head coaches Gerald Hollier and Rafael Benitez.
Moores left the board after selling most of his stake in the club in 2007, but retained the title of honorary life chairman. Under his leadership, Kirby Academy was built and opened in 1998, providing a modern integrated facility for the club’s youth team and development projects.
Now, a field at the Red Army Youth Training Base has also been renamed "Moores Stadium". At the unveiling ceremony on Thursday, members of the Moores family, club legends Sir Kenny Dalglish, Roy Evans, Sammy Lee and Phil Thompson, youth training director Alex Ingerthorpe and chief legal and external affairs officer Jonathan Bamber were all present.
Bamber said: "We are very honored to unveil this suitable commemorative plaque for former boss and chairman David Morse in recognition of his leadership and dedication to Liverpool Football Club. David will always be part of the club's brilliant history and be remembered as a loyal fan on the board."
His children, Lisa Morse Pierce, etc., said: "We are very proud that Liverpool chose to honor our father in this way. It is something he is very passionate about to develop young players, so this commemorative plaque is particularly touching on the field of the youth training base."
