ESPN reported that Pogba is expected to play in an official game again this week after more than two years. Due to the doping scandal two years ago, Pogba was eventually suspended for 18 months.

Sources revealed that Pogba will be selected for Monaco's squad against Rennes this weekend, and the team plans to let him play for a few minutes. The 32-year-old Pogba has not participated in any games for 26 months. His last appearance was for Juventus against Empoli on September 3, 2023, when he played 28 minutes. It is worth mentioning that Pogba has never played in Ligue 1 in his career. He moved to Manchester United from Le Havre when he was 16 years old.

Pogba (91 national team appearances, scoring 11 goals) dreams of participating in the 2026 World Cup. He trained normally with the team on Thursday and will continue training on Friday. Sources confirmed that if there are no abnormalities in training, Pogba will go to Rennes with the team and make his debut. Monaco plans to gradually increase his playing time in the next few weeks until he can play two consecutive games three days apart for 90 minutes, and return to his best condition as much as possible.

Juventus terminated the contract with Pogba in November 2024, and it took him some time to choose his next home. Although he received invitations from all over the world, he finally chose Monaco because of the team planning, qualification for the Champions League, his role in the team and the living environment of his family.

Since signing a two-year contract with Monaco at the end of June, the club has developed a comprehensive physical rehabilitation plan for him to help him return to form while preventing the risk of injury after his regular participation. The team collected hundreds of pieces of his biochemical data, posture analysis, psychological evaluation, athletic ability tests, flexibility tests, cognitive tests and physical fitness tests.

Sources said that in the past five months, he has made great efforts to ensure that he can return before the end of the year. In training, he performed well in a team dominated by young players and has become one of the leaders, and this team needs his guidance.
