A cat in Victoria, Australia ran away from home 13 years ago and its whereabouts are unknown. Thirteen years later, the cat suddenly came home and appeared in front of its owner. The owner finally recognized it and was ecstatic.

Paula Harper-Adams, a woman who lives in Geelong, said she has not seen her beloved pet cat Shelby since she ran away from home in 2001.
A few days ago, a black and white cat that looked similar to Shelby appeared at her door. She guessed that it was a stray cat because the cat's fur was matted and it had lice on its body. The cat was in quite bad condition.
She took the cat to the veterinarian and thought, "Could it be our cat that had been lost for 13 years?"
Harper-Adams returned home and dug out an old photo of Shelby and compared it with the new cat. Both had the same distinctive white markings. Staff at the veterinary clinic later confirmed it was her long-lost Shelby.
Veterinary nurse Ebony Deglaitis said the photos looked "exactly the same." Harper-Adams' son was ecstatic about the unexpected discovery. "When I found out it was him, I was just jumping up and down with excitement," he said.
Harper-Adams and the veterinary staff were overwhelmed by the news. Harper-Adams can't believe she's so lucky, and says it shows for others with missing pets that there is hope for their pets to be found.
Harper-Adams said: "I want to say: 'Never give up.'"
