Industrial computing is evolving rapidly, and there is an increasing need for platforms that balance performance, energy efficiency, and long-term reliability. To address this challenge, AMD launches the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series processors designed for industrial PCs, automation systems and machine vision applications. This new series delivers superior performance per watt, low latency, and the long-term stability that industrial customers demand.

AMD pointed out that the versatility of Ryzen embedded 9000 series processors is fully demonstrated in its target application fields. For industrial PCs, it provides the perfect combination of performance, integrated graphics and efficiency to sustain operations in harsh environments. In the field of industrial control and automation, this processor can provide the low-latency, high-throughput performance required for robotics, edge computing and smart factory operations. In the field of machine vision, the combination of real-time AI inference and advanced image processing helps ensure that tasks such as defect detection, quality control, and test and measurement can be performed with excellent accuracy and speed.

Ryzen embedded 9000 series processors use the advanced AMD Zen 5 architecture as the core, aiming to break the limits of performance and efficiency. Built on a 4nm process, this series of processors offers up to 16 high-performance cores with configurable power consumption ranging from 65 watts to 170 watts, allowing the system to be flexibly configured for a variety of applications ranging from energy-conscious industrial control to high-execution machine vision systems for factory automation.

AMD pointed out that by supporting the AVX-512 instruction set for AI and image processing, the processor performance has been further improved. Combining DDR5 memory, PCIe Gen 5 connectivity, and up to 128MB of cache with AMD 3D V-Cache technology, Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series processors deliver the speed and throughput needed for latency-sensitive tasks. For applications requiring graphics and visualization capabilities, AMD RDNA 2 architecture provides cost-effective display and visual solutions without the need for a discrete GPU, reducing complexity and system cost.

AMD emphasized that industrial deployments often span years or even decades, so platforms with the same long life cycle are required. The Ryzen Embedded 9000 series is built based on this practical need. The platform features an AMD AM5 socket design that provides downward and upward compatibility for easy installation. The Ryzen Embedded 9000 series processors provide product availability and reliability guarantees of up to 7 years, allowing system designers to be confident that their investments will still have long-term value in the future. The Ryzen PRO embedded SKU, expected to be launched later in 2025, will further extend the support cycle and provide product supply and reliability guarantees for up to ten years.

In addition, AMD PRO technology provides multi-layer security and seamless management capabilities, and has built-in protection functions such as AMD Platform Secure Boot and AMD Memory Guard (AMD Memory Guard) full-memory encryption to help defend against evolving cyber threats. From factory production lines to medical systems, the Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series delivers consistent, trustworthy performance no matter how demanding the conditions.

AMD further stated that in addition to performance and reliability, the engineering design of the Ryzen Embedded 9000 series is also committed to providing solution providers with the flexibility and scalability needed to meet current and future challenges. Rich connectivity capabilities covering WiFi 6E, PCIe Gen 5 and high-speed I/O make the platform not only powerful today, but also flexible to support future technologies. With AM5 slot compatibility and broad SKU selection, system architects can scale solutions to meet a variety of application needs while effectively controlling costs.

AMD Ryzen Embedded 9000 Series processors provide a platform built for durability and innovation. By combining industry-leading performance per watt, strong reliability and future-proof scalability, it empowers industrial and embedded system designers to create solutions that can withstand the test of time. Ryzen Embedded 9000 series processors provide a forward-looking, stable and reliable foundation and are a major advancement in industrial computing.
