Japanese government requires holding Rapidus "gold stocks"

The Japanese government considers to invest in Japanese crystalline foundry Rapidus, and for the purpose of funding, the Japanese government will require holding Rapidus "gold stocks".

NHK reported on the 14th that the Japanese Ministry of Economic Industry (Japanese Government) considers raising Rapidus, and in order to provide the conditions, the Japanese government will require holding "gold stocks" that can exercise rights to operate important matters.

In order to make investments in Rapidus, Japan has passed an amendment bill to provide assistance to semiconductor industries at a regular national conference held recently, which can allow the "Independent Administrative Legal Corporate Information Processing Initiative" (IPA) under the Economic Province to make investments in enterprises. The Japanese government plans to invest 100 billion Japanese dollars in Rapidus this year, but in order to avoid economic security risks caused by foreign companies and technical outflows, the Japanese government will require holding Rapidus "gold stocks".

"Gold Stock" (Stock Payment Rights Reserved Stock) has a stronger authority than the general decision. Even if you only hold 1 share, whether the appointment/dismissal of the director or the shareholders' meeting can be decided. One of the key reasons why the Trump administration recently agreed to Japan's Nippon Steel to purchase US Steel is that US Steel will issue a gold stock to the US government. In the Japanese corporate sector, one of the cases where the Japanese government holds gold shares is INPEX, a major oil exploration manufacturer.

In addition to the above 100 billion Japanese dollars in funds, the Japanese government has decided to provide Rapidus with approximately 1.72 billion Japanese dollars.
