West Ham midfielder Paqueta, although he was lifted from the betting charges in July this year, is expected to be fined six figures for failing to cooperate with the investigation.

Pacquerta was previously accused of deliberately receiving yellow cards for others to bet, but eventually cleared of the allegation of counterfeiting. Two other minor charges against him - failure to answer questions and provide information to the FA investigation was found to be valid. It is understood that the written documents on the relevant liability determination are expected to be published this week, and the sanctions have not yet been determined. The FA is believed to have hoped to impose a fine of about £150,000 (about the player's weekly salary) on Paqueta. However, during the FA's investigation, the players allegedly followed the advice of the club's designated lawyer and provided relevant information and answers.

In addition, a ruling is expected to be made on whether the FA needs to bear Paqueta's legal costs, which may exceed £1 million, as the investigation against Paqueta caused Manchester City to withdraw his offer to sign him, when the opponent was ready to pay the £85 million termination clause in the player's contract. Other Premier League clubs have expressed interest in Paqueta in this summer's transfer window, but West Ham has successfully retained their midfield core. The FA said it would not comment on the matter before the ruling committee announced its decision.
