According to reports, in June 2017, father "Lili" and mother "Zhenzhen" gave birth to "Xiangxiang" through natural mating. In 2012, the parents also gave birth to a baby, but it died six days later. Learning from this lesson, the garden did not relax after "Xiang Xiang" was born and guarded her 24 hours a day for three months.

In a report, Kyodo News of Japan called "Xiangxiang" "the 'signature girl' who charms tourists with her cuteness and cuteness." In December 2017, "Xiang Xiang" made her debut to the public. This was the first panda cub to be born in Ueno in the past 29 years, and she was loved by local people.

On June 12, 2022, "Xiangxiang" celebrates her 5th birthday. Visitors who go to visit need to wait 4 hours to meet "Xiangxiang".

According to reports, the initial provision was to "return it when it reaches 24 months", but many people wanted "Xiangxiang" to stay in Japan, so it was decided to return it to China at the end of 2020. Later, due to the impact of the new coronavirus epidemic, the return deadline was postponed several times.

Previously, Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike also said that Xiangxiang is deeply loved in Japan, and many people will feel sad to leave her, but she also hopes that the Japanese people can understand that Xiangxiang shoulders the important responsibility of protecting pandas and promoting reproduction.
